SIA Announces Launch of Proptech Advisory Board
SIA says the group was created in response to proptech’s increasing role in the security industry and will be chaired by Lee Odess, general manager at Latch.
SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Security Industry Association (SIA) announces the creation of its new Proptech Advisory Board (PTAB), a group of SIA member experts that will bridge engagement between the proptech community and the global security industry through partnerships, education and thought leadership.
SIA officially launched the advisory board March 22 at The Advance, SIA’s annual membership meeting at ISC West. The group will be chaired by Lee Odess, general manager at Latch.
The group was said to be created in response to proptech’s increasing role in the industry, with $32 billion invested in real estate tech companies in 2021. Security as Proptech ranked No. 8 on SIA’s list of 2022 Security Megatrends, which forecasts the major trends affecting security industry businesses.
Additionally, SIA says the lasting impacts of COVID-19 have brought the topic of accelerating technology adoption to the forefront for building owners and operators.
“I am extremely pleased with SIA taking a progressive step in engaging an important vertical for the security industry. The level of investment and growth in this sector warrants our appropriate response in forming this board,” says Odess. “I appreciate the board’s trust in me to direct this effort and look forward to the opportunities ahead.”
The Proptech Advisory Board’s primary efforts will include developing and distributing educational content such as presentations, collectively researched papers, webinars, informative newsletters and curated resources; commenting on and providing feedback on initiatives including standards activities, legislation, position papers and requests from media; and partnering and collaborating with companies and organizations on proptech-related activities.
“The launch of the Proptech Advisory Board is an important example of how SIA provides platforms for members to stay ahead in emerging areas that could help them to become more successful. We appreciate the dedication of Lee Odess and advisory board members for their insights and involvement,” says SIA CEO Don Erickson. “Security solutions are uniquely positioned at the heart of the proptech ecosystem, and this group of remarkable industry leaders will help SIA engage the proptech community and provide valuable resources for our members.”
