SIA Seeks Cooperation From GSA to Implement Purchasing Rule

ALEXANDRIA, Va.

The Security Industry Association (SIA) says it has called on GSA Administrator Lurita Doan to implement the agency’s disaster recovery cooperative purchasing rule “without imposing burdensome reporting requirements upon contractors.”

On May 25, SIA sent a letter to Doan expressing its membership’s continued support for the cooperative purchasing provisions contained with the agency’s interim disaster recovery rule. SIA also notes that legitimate concerns have been raised about GSA’s desire to obtain transactional data from contractors as part of the agency’s interim rule.

SIA recommends that GSA request transactional data in a manner that “does not impose unnecessary, time consuming, and burdensome requirements upon contractors,” along with offering to establish a SIA task force to assist GSA with its implementation of this system.

GSA Administrator Doan will address SIA members about the topic and other issues impacting the Schedules Program on June 12 during the SIA Government Summit, which is co-sponsored by SSI.

At present, more than 10,000 contractors have agreed to participate in the GSA disaster recovery program, according to SIA. GSA is expected to complete action on the disaster recovery rule by the end of the year. For more information, contact Don Erickson, SIA’s director of Government Relations, at (703) 647-8484 or [email protected].
