SIA Selects New President, Nominates New Directors

ALEXANDRIA, Va.

Bill Gorski, director of business development for Siemens Building Technologies Inc. (SBT), has been selected to be the new president of the Security Industry Association (SIA). Gorski will take his new position when the two-year term of current President Joe Grillo expires next July.

SIA’s Nominating Committee submitted Gorski’s name as its recommendation for president on July 5. Shortly after, Grillo, who also serves as president and CEO of ASSA ABLOY’s Identification Technology Group (ITG), accepted the nomination.

Also nominated and accepted for positions on SIA’s Executive Committee were Pelco Vice President of Marketing Dave Smith, who was named treasurer, and GE Infrastructure, Security Vice President of Global Sales Jim Clark as SIA Secretary.

The new officers will be formally elected by the current Executive Committee during the Aug. 24 SIA Annual Membership Meeting at ISC East’s headquarters – New York’s Jacob Javits Convention Center.

The SIA Nominating Committee has also nominated the following individuals to SIA’s Board of Directors. SIA members will vote on their election at the annual meeting:

  • David Avritt, president and owner of SentryNet

  • Shamus Hurley, vice president of sales for Bosch Security Systems

  • Ray Krickmier, vice president of sales for Fire-Lite Alarms

  • Gordon Hope, vice president of marketing for Honeywell Security

  • Alan Calegari, president of Siemens Building Technologies

  • Jim Scott, president of Ingersoll-Rand’s Security and Safety Solutions business
