The Security Industry Association (SIA) is pleased to announce that it is the sole corporate sponsor of The International Chiefs of Police (IACP) “Chief Michael Shanahan Award.”

The award was established this year to honor the significant contributions and accomplishments of Chief Michael Shanahan (ret.) to worldwide public safety. The goal of this award is to recognize outstanding achievements in the development and implementation of public/private cooperation in public safety.

Chief Shanahan served as the co-chairman of the IACP/Private Sector Liaison Committee (PSLC) from 1985 to 1999. Under his leadership, the PSLC focused on solutions to critical public/private sector issues, such as product tampering, drugs in the workplace, guidelines for nonsworn responders to alarms, workplace and school violence, and hiring and training guidelines for security guards.
