FRISCO, Texas — Security industry veteran Kirk MacDowell, a member of the Security Sales & Integration Editorial Advisory Board, has assumed the role of chairman of the board for the Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC).
MacDowell is a 39-year security industry veteran and founder/CEO of MacGuard Security Advisors. An active member with industry trade associations, his diverse experience includes alarm companies and manufacturers such as Alarm.com and Interlogix.
“Kirk’s deep knowledge of our industry, paired with his operational and manufacturing background, is invaluable as we face new challenges and opportunities with technology,” says Stan Martin, SIAC Executive Director. “Kirk’s early career in law enforcement is also invaluable as we continue to work with organizations such as the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the National Sheriff’s Association.”
In addition to his new role at SIAC, MacDowell has served on the board of The Monitoring Association (TMA) and is Chairman of the Alarm Industry Research and Education Foundation (AIREF). In an announcement, he emphasizes how SIAC plays a major role in how the security industry is regulated at the local level.
“Our ability to protect and serve our clients benefits tremendously when we are working in partnership with law enforcement and have a voice in decisions concerning how governments regulate our industry,” MacDowell says. “SIAC has proven to be a highly efficient and effective way to have the industry’s voice at the table when these key decisions are being discussed.”
MacDowell replaces former SIAC board chairman Leo Guthart, an SSI Industry Hall of Fame inductee, who Martin thanked in the announcement for his tenure in the role.
“Leo has devoted a great deal of time and energy helping secure the funding necessary to continue our important work,” Martin comments.
