The 45th Space Wing of the U.S. Air Force awarded two
separate contracts totaling more than $4 million to Siemens
Building Technologies Inc. (SBT) to provide electronic
security system upgrades to the Cape Canaveral Air Force
Station in Florida and fire alarm and detection
improvements to nearby Patrick Air Force Base.
In conjunction with Northrop Grumman, Siemens will install and integrate new security access and CCTV system improvements for 62 buildings at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. Installation began in late October and is expected to be completed by September.
Under a separate contract, SBT will install a new WAN fire alarm system and three associated fire detection systems at Patrick Air Force Base. The WAN and detection systems will link approximately 200 buildings on base to a centralized command center. System installation began in October and is expected to be complete by August.
