BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. – Siemens Building Technologies, a division of Germany-based Siemens, said Thursday (April 30) that it laid off about 100 workers nationwide, including about 60 at its division headquarters, located here.
Siemens’ spokeswoman Camille Johnston told the Daily Herald that Siemens is “streamlining several programs and initiatives, resulting in a reduction of workforce involving office personnel.”

Affected workers were offered assistance with a severance package, professional outplacement counseling and access to Siemens job postings for other opportunities, she said.
Siemens Building Technologies provides new technology for fire protection, security, building automation, heating, ventilation and air conditioning and energy management. It now has about 7,500 workers nationwide, including about 1,200 in Buffalo Grove.
“While decisions that impact employees are always extremely difficult, these changes will allow the Siemens Building Technologies Division to improve delivery of quality solutions, service, and products to its customers,” Johnston told the newspaper.
