SIMPLEX PROTECTS NATIONAL TREASURE; COMPANY INSTALLS SYSTEM AT MOUNT RUSHMORE MONUMENT

GARDNER, Mass.

Mount Rushmore, the world-renowned mountain sculpture in the Black Hills of South Dakota that memorializes four of the most revered presidents in American history, is now protected by an advanced facility-wide security system from Simplex, a provider of building systems. An integrated Simplex NT 3400 security management information system has been installed to protect the storied 60-foot-high sculpted granite busts of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln as well as visitors and employees at the Mount Rushmore National Memorial.

The system also supplies security at the surrounding Mount Rushmore National Park, which includes a recently completed Visitor’s Center and Museum and the President’s Trail, which offers up-close views of the mountain. The NT 3400 system installed by Simplex provides access control and intrusion detection, and is also integrated with a CCTV video control system. Black & Veatch, one of the largest private consulting engineering and design firms in the U.S., designed the security system.
