The University of Notre Dame has chosen Simplex Time Recorder Co., a global provider of building systems, to supply equipment for a major upgrade project that will bring the latest fire detection and alarm technology to 16 residence halls on campus. The retrofit project is being handled by the company’s local branch office in South Bend, Ind., and involves the installation of Simplex 4010 TrueAlarm fire panels and TrueAlarm smoke sensors. The control panels will be tied into the networked 15-node fire alarm system that Simplex installed a few years ago to protect parts of the 104-building, 1,250-acre campus, including Notre Dame Stadium and the Alumni Association/Visitors Center.
J.C. “Chris” King, branch manager in the Simplex South Bend office, says, “Quality is extremely important at Notre Dame. The selection of Simplex as the provider for this important project speaks volumes about our relationship.” John Antonucci, university fire chief, agrees. “Simplex has performed admirably while servicing existing equipment and during new fire alarm system installation at Notre Dame,” he adds. The first seven of the 16 dormitory installations are now being installed.
