LOS ANGELES — Kickstarter is a breeding ground for all types of innovative products. Some are successfully funded and go on to fulfill all the promises it makes to its backers. Others… not so much.

One company looking to successfully role out its product is ELECPRO with its US:E Smart Lock. The company says the smart lock will allow users to open their door through facial recognitionsmartphone, fingerprint scanning, password, physical key and key fob.

“We believe the lock is an important part of our home and the lock can also be intelligent. Our goal is to make the lock truly safe and smart. These were the ideas behind US:E Smart Lock,” says Terence Ye, CEO of ELECPRO GROUP.

The smart lock comes in two versions, each with the following features:

Password Version:

  • Password control
  • Built-in camera
  • Remote control
  • Fingerprint scanning
  • Physical key
  • Key fob

Facial Recognition Version:

  • Facial recognition
  • Built-in camera
  • Remote control
  • Physical key
  • Key fob
  • Palmprint scanning

The US:E can store up to 100 faces, and the company claims that photos and videos cannot bypass the system. If a password is entered incorrectly five times, the smart lock will push an alert to the user’s smartphone.

Though the project deadline is Feb. 12, it has already surpassed its goal of $10,000, currently sitting at $44,751. Getting fully funded it one thing, but it will be interesting to see if ELECPRO will be able to send out the product on time and bug-free.
