SmartAMERICA Development Corp. of Scotts Valley, Calif., has joined with other industry leaders comprising the CEBus Industry Council (CIC) in announcing unanimous support for the convergence of the home control efforts of CEBus and Home Plug and Play(tm) with UPnP and the Simple Control Protocol (SCP) efforts lead by Microsoft(r). Among the other key members of the council are Cutler-Hammer, Domosys, EGi, EDT and EPRisolutions.
According to SmartAMERICA President/CEO Dennis Murray, the convergence of CEBus into SCP is the next logical step from the development of CEBus and Home Plug and Play products. “It will ensure that the wide range of exciting and interoperable CEBus and Home Plug and Play products available today will immediately extend to the new range of applications made possible by SCP and UPnP,” he contends.
