Sonitrol Alarm Involved in Unsolved Murder

SAN LEANDRO, Calif.
Published: November 11, 2004

For 10 years, the murder of a 15-year-old Oakland girl has
baffled police. After all this time, police still have no
leads as to the murderer. Officers were dispatched to the
scene of the crime, Jefferson Elementary School, after
receiving a report from Sonitrol, according to The
Argus
.

The security company reported that a burglar alarm had been activated on the campus. Three minutes later, two officers arrived.

During bad weather, burglar alarms can be accidentally tripped so the officers had no reason to believe that something was wrong. Sonitrol employees told dispatchers that they could hear sounds coming from somewhere on campus. Officers discovered the young girl, who died the next day due to a gunshot wound to the head.
