Sonitrol Corp., a provider of verified central station response, announces the acquisition of full operating rights of its Washington, D.C., territory.

The addition of the Washington, D.C., area, in conjunction with the corporation’s offices in Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York and Boston, is expected to give the firm a major presence in the middle Atlantic and northeastern markets.

“The Greater Washington, D.C., area has been a very strong market for Sonitrol,” says Sonitrol Chairman and CEO Kevin Dowd. “With a world-class sales and installation team in place, Greater Washington has done a tremendous job, particularly in the property management sector. We hope to build upon the foundation they’ve put together. As with any acquisition, Sonitrol will work closely with local school officials, business owners and police to ensure a seamless transition.”

Other major metropolitan areas acquired by Sonitrol’s corporate during the past two years include Philadelphia, New York, Miami, Orlando, Fla., Columbus, Ohio, and Kansas City, Kan., among others.
