Electronic security provider Sonitrol has filled its vacant president position after adding the president title to COO Alex Gellman. As Sonitrol president, Gellman will be in charge of the day-to-day operations of the company.

The president position has been vacant since Sonitrol was acquired from Tyco by private investors in April 2004. Sonitrol’s president before that, Chris Cobb, stayed with Tyco’s ADT Security Services after Sonitrol was sold. Sonitrol Chairman and CEO Kevin Dowd has handled most of the presidential duties since then.

Gellman joined Sonitrol in March 2004 as senior vice president and COO after co-founding real estate database firm Apex Site Management.
