FORT WORTH, Texas – The Sonitrol National Dealers Association (SNDA) appointed new officers during the SNDA Convention, including a new president.

More than 400 Sonitrol franchise owners and personnel attended the four-day conference in Fort Worth, Texas in March. This year’s keynote discussions focused on the success of the Sonitrol business, as well was the electronic security industry as a whole – with particular emphasis on the increasing demand for verified alarms across the United States and Canada.

Several employees were honored at the conference for their achievements in sales, marketing, administration and technical support.
Additionally, Sonitrol personnel elected Jeremy Bates, general manager of Sonitrol of Lexington (also known as Bates Security) as its president during the SNDA Convention and Awards Banquet.

“It’s an honor to have been chosen by the SNDA as their new president,” Bates said. “On behalf of the entire Sonitrol family, I’d like to thank outgoing President Chuck Harrelson (Sonitrol of the Triangle) for the exceptional job he’s done over the past year.

“As we look back and celebrate Sonitrol’s first 50 years and all that we’ve built, I can’t help but to eagerly look ahead to the future of our company. As verification plays an increasingly larger role in the electronic security landscape, Sonitrol will continue to redefine excellence within our industry.”

Sonitrol, founded in Anderson, Ind. in 1964, is acknowledged as the originator of verified electronic security, after founder Robert Baxter and Anderson Police Chief Al Cronk adapted the acoustic devices from Baxter’s pest extermination company to detect to human intruders.

This year, as the company celebrates 50 years dedicated to verified security solutions, Sonitrol personnel took time during the conference to reflect on the company’s rich history and record of success, which includes assisting police officers throughout North America in more apprehensions of intruders than any other security company. The firm has assisted in more than 170,000 since 1977, when the company began recording apprehension statistics.

“As much as this year’s agenda at the convention was business, as usual, it was a little bit different, a little more special,” says Bill McNabney, founder of Sonitrol University. McNabney was also honored as Sonitrol’s first ever, and longest-tenured employee. He went on to say, “We were all able to recognize our history, our achievements and our company as a whole and we’ve come a long way over the last 50 years as a network, and as a team. And I’m extremely proud to see the direction in which we’re heading for the next 50.”
