The Northwest city of Spokane, Wash., is coming down with fines on alarm owners who commit false alarms. Under a new ordinance passed on April 11, commercial and residential alarm owners will have to register their alarms with the city for a yearly fee and be subject to a flat fine for each false alarm.

The Associated Press says residences will be fined $75 and businesses $150 for each false alarm. In addition, residences will pay a yearly $25 alarm registration fee, while businesses will pay $35.
