Security Sales & Integration has run its streak of being recognized by the Western Publishing Association (WPA) for outstanding editorial to five consecutive years. WPA announced SSI as a finalist for a “Maggie Award” in the category of Best Series of Articles/Trade for its acclaimed “D.U.M.I.E.S.” series. In 2007, the four-part educational, technology-driven series – written by industry CCTV training guru Bob Wimmer – was themed “Understanding IP Video for D.U.M.I.E.S.” (D.U.M.I.E.S. stands for dealers, users, managers, installers, engineers and salespeople).

“This industry is awhirl with technological advancements and new, emerging business models,” says SSI Editor-in-Chief Scott Goldfine. “It has always been part of SSI‘s core mission to serve as the voice of reason and guidance to make sense of this changing landscape for installing security contractors. This is underscored by our immensely popular ‘D.U.M.I.E.S.’ series, which it totally unique in our industry. So it is very gratifying to not only be a finalist for this prestigious award but also for that recognition to be based on a product so indicative of what SSI is all about.”

SSI‘s sister publication Campus Safety was nominated in the Public Safety category – its third straight year being nominated for a Maggie. Last year, the publication won Best Public Safety/Trade magazine. In 2006, Campus Safety was nominated for most improved publication.

Winners will be announced at the 57th Annual Maggie Awards banquet to be held May 2 at the Westin Hotel at the Los Angeles Airport. The Maggie awards recognize magazine publishing excellence in both the consumer and trade arenas, with categories ranging from political issues to alternative lifestyles.
