SSI Announces Winners of 2006 SAMMY Awards!
LAS VEGAS
As the 11th group of SAMMY winners was named in Las Vegas,
three initials were heard more than any other: HSM.
Jupiter, Fla.-based HSM Electronic Protection Services Inc.
took home two awards at the 11th Annual HREF=’http://www.thesammyawards.com’ TARGET=’_blank’>SAMMY
(Sales and Marketing) Awards on April 4, including the
top marketing prize of Overall “Integrated Marketing
Program.”
Now an ISC West-eve tradition, a standing-room capacity
crowd of alarm industry professionals filled the conference
room at the Venetian Casino Resort for the SAMMYs to honor
the best installation and marketing efforts of their peers.
It was also a chance to get some early networking in as
well as indulge in some of the free hors d’oeuvres.
A year ago, HSM Chairman and CEO Jim Covert HREF=’t_ci_articleView.cfm?aid=2036&sid=0′
TARGET=’_blank’>was honored at the SAMMYs as a new
inductee of the TARGET=’_blank’>SSI Hall of Fame. This year, the
fame and glory went to the whole company, which continues
to grow as an independent monitoring firm after it was sold
off by Honeywell TARGET=’_blank’>in 2004.
In addition to the top marketing award, HSM was honored for
having the top commercial/industrial sales brochure.
While HSM had a big night, there were still plenty of
awards to go around as HSM was the only multiple-award
winner for the night.
Pittsburgh’s Guardian Protection Systems continued its
SAMMYs streak by winning the award for Sales Brochure:
Residential. It was the third-straight year that Guardian
has won a SAMMY, which is the longest current streak of any
company.
An extensive integrated system installed at the Hyundai
Motor Manufacturing plant in Montgomery, Ala., won hometown
integrator Vision Southeast the SAMMY for Integrated
Commercial/Industrial Installation of the Year at the April
4 evening ceremony.
On the other side of the country, the SAMMY for Integrated
Residential Installation of the Year will receive an
honored place in the Norco, Calif., offices of Ultrasafe
Security. The contractor installed a massive integrated
security system for the 350-estate Morningside Community in
Rancho Mirage, Calif.

Along with the SAMMYs, the newest members of the HREF=’t_hof.cfm’ TARGET=’_blank’>SSI Hall of
Fame – Ken Boyda, Rick Britton and HREF=’t_dumies.cfm’ TARGET=’_blank’>Bob Wimmer – were
formally inducted during the evening event.
In addition, the first-ever
TARGET=’_blank’>Police Dispatch
Quality (PDQ) award was formerly handed out to Vector
Security Inc. of Pittsburgh, which also won the SAMMY for
Company Newsletter during the ceremony.
