SSI Set to Award SAMMY Trophies, Welcome Hall of Fame Inductees

SECURITY SALES & INTEGRATION will roll out the red carpet for its honored guests at the 14th annual SAMMY Awards ceremony held at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas March 31.

The festivities will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Casanova Conference Room 602 with free hors d’ oeuvres and refreshments. Esteemed winners will be recognized in 12 categories, including the coveted top installer awards, Installer of the Year and the new Installation of the Year.

SSI received an impressive collection of entries from across North America for the right to be named Installer of the Year. Each company was asked to submit essay-type answers to half-a-dozen judging factors, such as detailing business practices and marketing strategies the company uses to ensure its success, and a description of ways the company contributes to the security industry.

Industry marketing experts Tom Brigham, Jon Daum, Leslie Stevens and Jerry Lenander judged each entry and narrowed down an impressive list of finalists.

A highpoint of each SAMMY Awards program is the SSI Hall of Fame induction ceremony. This year’s industry stalwarts to be honored will be: Allen Fritts, president of Honeywell Fire Systems; George Gunning, CEO of USA Alarm Systems; Ken Kirschenbaum, managing partner of Kirschenbaum & Kirschenbaum; George Lippert (deceased), co-founder of the Security Industry Equipment Association (later SIA) and Alarm Installer & Dealer magazine (later SSI); and Mel Mahler, chairman/CEO/owner of ADS Security.

The gala will also feature the presentation of the annual Police Dispatch Quality (PDQ), which recognizes companies dedicated to reducing false alarms.
