SSI to Present Government Contracting Roundtable at NSS

TORRANCE, Calif.
Published: September 19, 2003

Security Sales & Integration (SSI) magazine announces that,
on Oct. 2, Publisher Michael Zawinski will moderate a
roundtable gathering of industry experts at the National
Summit on Security (NSS) Washington (formally ISC East).
This Q&A session, entitled “Government Contracting – An
Interactive Discussion,” will feature six panelists with
years of real-world experience in the government security
market. They will present practical, insider information on
how security systems integrators and manufacturers can
successfully land government contracts.

This seminar will help attendees save time and effort by
offering tips on how to avert mistakes often made during
the contracting process. According to Zawinski, “It will
cut through all the hype and focus on the realities and
infrastructure needed to succeed. Security systems
contractors will not want to miss out on this outstanding
opportunity to learn from people who have truly ‘been there
and done that.’ We’ve all heard the hype about the ‘pot of
gold’ that awaits integrators concerning Homeland Security
expenditures. The situation has raised expectations as well
as many questions as our industry scrambles to find the
path leading to the end of that rainbow.”

Some of the topics covered during the discussion will
include: recognizing what are and are not real government
contracting opportunities; getting started in the
government sector; the pros and cons of going after
government work; identifying those who actually decide what
equipment and brand(s) will be purchased; and what to do
after obtaining a GSA schedule.

The following industry experts will serve as panelists:
Kevin Carpenter, government sales manager, Pelco, Clovis,
Calif.; Sheila Brannan, schedule 084 contracting officer
for the Federal General Services Administration, Fort
Worth, Texas; Lynn de Seve, president, GSA Schedules Inc.,
Bowie, Md.; Jeff Penny, executive vice president, GSA
Schedules Inc.; Anthony Ibarra, CEO, Digitron Inc., Denver;
and Bob Preston, government account manager, Diebold, North
Canton, Ohio. Commercial installing companies, manufacturer
marketing managers, end users and government employees are
all encouraged to attend.
