The security industry saw everything in 2017, from major mergers and acquisitions, to the proliferation of DIY smart home security systems and security guard robots.

SSI has compiled the top 10 most viewed stories from the past year. Conveniently, the list happens to include a variety of content — spanning stories about the aforementioned M&A and DIY smart home sector, to low-light video tips and product trends.

Some big names made the list over legal issues, including ADT (several times) and Honeywell.

ADT gave DIY smart home company Ring a hard time in the fall, slapping them with a lawsuit that prevented the company from selling its Ring Protect security and home automation system, claiming there is enough evidence to suggest Ring misappropriated intellectual property from Zonoff that in fact belonged to ADT.
