StarTech.com, of Lockbourne, Ohio, unveils the PCI Express Serial Card (PEX2S952PW) with selectable 5V/12V power output, which enables users to configure the voltage output of the RS232 (DB9) serial ports, based on the requirements of connected devices, according to the company. Devices that commonly use RS232 connections include industrial machinery, POS equipment, kiosks, ATMs and surveillance cameras.

The card is based on a native single-chip, single lane PCI Express architecture, and includes a half-height bracket for installations in small form factor computers allowing integrators to install the adapter card in a wider array of systems.
