DUBUQUE, Iowa — Thanks to video surveillance cameras, a gang leader has been arrested here.
The security cameras have helped lead police to eight arrests of people that KCRG reports were linked to crimes that occurred downtown. Frank Washington was arrested after video surveillance footage into a series of shootings pointed police to Washington.
Washington and Imla Alvarenga were arrested and charged with two counts of aiding and abetting of first degree harassment, going armed with intent and carrying weapons, according to the report.
Police say Washington is the leader of the Mulla Mafia Gang.
Dubuque Police Lt. Scott Baxter said the security footage helps police keep an eye on the gang members. “We know who the majority of them are, so when they’re out there doing their stuff and we get them on camera … it’s not hard to track them down and get them charged up,” he said.
