Survey: Law Enforcement Wants Homeowners to Take a Bite Out of Crime
WASHINGTON
A survey of law enforcement professionals finds that they place as much an importance on improving home security as they do improving homeland security. The National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) conducted the survey to make the 25th anniversary of its McGruff the Crime Dog “Take a Bite Out of Crime” campaign.
The survey of local law enforcement professionals at NCPC’s 7th Annual Conference on Preventing Crime shows that they see as much a need for homeowners to upgrade their security as they see the government upgrading security against terror.
Also ranked high as priorities among law enforcement were identity theft, gang crime and school safety.
As part of the McGruff anniversary, electronic security provider ADT is donating 25 McGruff costumes to law enforcement agencies across the country to assist in their crime prevention education efforts.
