Sweetwater Security Capital LLC, a provider of capital and
management solutions to the electronic security industry,
says it has acquired a majority interest in the Apex
Security Group. Terms were not disclosed.
Based in Glenwood Springs, Colo., Apex provides monitoring,
test and inspection, UL system certification, guard
response, and security consulting and design services for
the Summit County, Eagle/Vail, Aspen and Telluride areas.
Donald Bresina-Hawkins, CEO of Sweetwater, will take up the
chairmanship of Apex. Industry veteran Sean O’Keefe,
president of Sweetwater’s North American security division,
will become Apex’s acting general manager of Apex and
Duncan McKeever will be its managing director. In the past
year through Sweetwater, Bresina, O’Keefe and McKeever have
purchased four alarm companies.
“Our financing partners and our shareholders have provided
us with the opportunity to build the premier brand name in
security,” Bresina said in a statement. “Apex is a terrific
company and is well positioned to become the leading
provider of security services in Colorado.”
Outgoing APEX CEO Marc Powell, who will stay on as a
consultant to the company, said he only sees growth ahead
for the company. “After seven years of growth, Apex has
become one of the top 50 security companies in the United
States. Apex is poised for the kind of growth that
Sweetwater’s investment in the company will bring,” Powell
said. “The deeply experienced security industry management
team and financial clout brought to the table by Sweetwater
will allow Apex to build upon its reputation for the
highest levels of service to our clients.”
