Systems Installer Holds Industry Symposium for College Security Directors

CANTON, Mass.

Officials from almost 30 colleges recently attended the College Security Symposium, hosted by security systems installer MAC Systems and noted independent college security consultant Adam Thermos, Ph.D. The event was held at the Foxwoods Resort in Ledyard, Conn.

Senior security officers from colleges such as Pace University, SUNY Cobleskill and Brown University took in presentations on topics including campus contingency planning and policy, formulating budgets for security technology, collegiate security organizations and balancing the needs of security and privacy. Attendees participated in active discussions and received a tour of Foxwoods’ advanced casino surveillance and security system, which was profiled in the September 2004 issue of Security Sales & Integration.

A small group of prominent security equipment manufacturers was also asked to showcase some of their new technology for the industry.

“This was a great event that gave college and university officials a chance to learn about the latest security technology and practices,” said Tom Heenan, vice president of sales and marketing for MAC Systems of Canton, Mass.
