Building automation and security solutions provider TAC will change its name and logo to Schneider Electric, its parent company since 2003. The move will officially take place in October.
As a unified brand, Schneider Electric hopes to provide customers with solutions to energy-management problems, allowing end users to be more energy efficient. TAC will contribute expertise on the management of energy and security within buildings.
In announcing the merger, Schneider Electric says the migration to a singular company will offer customers increased access to a wider range of integrated solutions.
“This is more than just a name change; this is a new way of approaching our business and our customers’ needs at a time when financial and natural resources are increasingly scarce,” says Chris Curtis, president and CEO of TAC. “Schneider Electric’s new organization will enable the company to take multiple solutions from our comprehensive offer portfolio through one seamless customer interface to become a single-source energy management provider.”
Based in France, Schneider Electric separates its global business into Electrical Distribution and Automation and Control (which includes security and fire protection) divisions. The company has more than 100,000 employees working in 130 countries. Schneider’s security holdings include Pelco, which it acquired in 2007.
