Got Talent? Mission 500 and SSI Team to Feed Families During COVID-19 Pandemic
To raise awareness of The Million Meal Challenge, SSI and Mission 500 want industry practitioners, family and friends to show off their talent in homemade videos.
MIAMI — For the 37 million Americans already facing food insecurity, the prospect of being quarantined means the very real danger of lost wages, further difficulty accessing enough food, and an increased reliance on food banks to fill their plates.
That number has conceivably doubled in the last two months as food banks around the country have been overwhelmed with demand Feeding America, the nation’s largest network of food banks, with more than 200 affiliates, has projected a $1.4 billion shortfall in the next six months alone.
The security industry has responded with its own initiative called “The Million Meal Challenge.” Mission 500 teamed up with Feeding America to help children in need across the United States. The organization’s goal is to raise $100,000 which will provide one million meals to families in need during the COVID-19 outbreak.
As part of this next phase, Mission 500 Security Sales and Integration are proud to team up to keep driving awareness and fundraising. Throughout the month of May, we will collaborate in showcasing “Talents of the Industry”.
“Everyone knows somebody who plays an instrument, sings, writes, recites, poetry, juggles, does acrobatics, or has some special talent”, SSI Editor-in-Chief Scott Goldfine. “We’re proud to partner with Mission 500 to help feed many more children and families”.
Talents of the Industry: Show off your talent and/or donate here!
Mission 500 Chairman of the Board Ken Gould adds, “SSI has been a strong supporter of Mission 500 over the years and we are thrilled that they are stepping up to help promote the million-meal challenge.”
We invite all industry practitioners, family and friends to participate throughout the month of May. People can participate by filming a video on their phones/cameras and submitting to email@example.com.
Participants are also encouraged to post their video on their own Facebook and Twitter, and “challenge” 2-3 people to donate and show off their talent. Don’t forget to tag Mission 500 and include the hashtag #IndustryGotTalent.
