The Consortium for Electronic Systems Technician Training announces that the Lincoln Technical Institute in Chicago will begin teaching the Electronic Systems Technician (EST) curriculum this fall to area businesses and individuals to become skilled in the electronic systems business. The classes are scheduled to begin Sept. 24.
“There is an urgent need for electronic systems technicians in the workforce, and the opportunity that this profession awards is outstanding,” says Chuck Wilson, president of the Consortium for EST training. “It’s the perfect career for people who want to use their brains and their hands, and not be stuck behind a desk or workbench all day. You work with cutting-edge technology in many different settings.” Electronic systems technicians design, integrate, install, and provide field maintenance and service on products that do the following: transport voice, video, audio, and data signals in commercial or residential premises; capture and display, or otherwise annunciate, signals; control signals; and use signals to control mechanical and electrical apparatus.
Lincoln Technical Institute is a private business and vocational school system, with 24 schools operating in 11 states. The institute has built a new school for the EST program in Melrose Park, Ill. It plans to introduce the EST career-training program at four other existing schools around the country.
The resources that have been devoted to developing there will make it a model for other schools to emulate, according to company officials.
