Thanksgiving Travelers to See Added Security Measures as Result of Recent Terror Threat
New poll says 83% of registered voters believe a terror attack is likely to occur in the U.S. in the near future.
Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and approximately 46 million people will be traveling in the United States for the holiday.
In their travels, people will see additional officers, patrol dogs and guns at virtually every airport, train station and tourist destination across the country, according to a CBS News report.
“I always hesitate to rank threats, but the potential copycat, the lone-wolf actor is one that we’re continually focused on,” Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said.

A new poll showed that 83% of registered voters believe a large scale is likely to occur in the U.S. in the near future.
The increased security measures come after a number of episodes involving airline security since the terrorist attacks in Paris. Southwest delayed or diverted three flights this week. On Sunday, a flight from Indianapolis to Los Angeles was diverted to Kansas City when three passengers were said to be acting suspiciously on the flight. Three U.S. flights heading overseas experienced phony bomb threats.
Meanwhile, the DHS says there are no credible threats anywhere in the U.S.
“My message to the public in this holiday season is while we urge you to continue to travel, go to public events, go to public places and know that our folks are on the job,” Johnson told CBS News.
