The Security Network Hosts 5th Annual Security Summit

SAN DIEGO

The Security Network, a nonprofit group that promotes the development of dual usage security technologies for public and private sectors, is hosting a two-day event devoted to promoting innovative dual usage security products and services from around the globe. The 5th Annual Security Summit will be held in San Diego on June 4-5. SECURITY SALES & INTEGRATION is the exclusive industry media sponsor of the event.

The first day of the event is devoted to a security products and services competition. Companies can display and demonstrate their products before a panel of expert judges. Product categories include: bioterrorism; command and control; communications interoperability; disaster preparedness and first responders; port and maritime security; information assurance security software; surveillance and sensors; and transportation and logistics security.

Exhibitors are allowed a maximum of two tabletops to display their wares; typically company representatives are able to carry in their luggage whatever they are going to show. The limited display space is required, in part, to maintain equitable visibility for all manufacturers. Thus, an emphasis is placed squarely on innovative technology regardless of the size of the company.

“This is not a trade show. We want companies to show one or two very innovative products on tabletops to a select group of individuals looking for innovative technologies,” Michael Jones, president and CEO of the Security Network, tells SECURITY SALES & INTEGRATION. “This is all about developing partnerships.”

The second day will consists of speaker and panel sessions addressing topics to help ensure that the innovative products on display in the exposition can move to rapid commercialization.

More than 200 security industry and government personnel are expected to attend.About 60 participating companies from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand will also be in attendance, including private sector channel partners such as commercial, homeland security, and defense systems integrators.

Keynote speakers on June 5 include Admiral Bill Landay, Chief of Naval Research at Office of Naval Research; and Dick Schaeffer, Information Assurance Director for the National Security Agency (NSA).
