Throwback Thursday: Security Upgrade at the 49ers’ Former Stadium Candlestick Park

Published: January 29, 2015

We’re only days away from the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots showdown at Super Bowl XLIX.

Because it is such a high-profile event, extra security precautions have been made to make sure that everyone ranging from football players, fans and stadium workers, are safe at the University of Phoenix Stadium, including the installation of more 200 HD surveillance cameras and other new high-tech security equipment.

The news of the security upgrades reminded the editors of Security Sales & Integration of an article featured in the December 2011 issue of our publication about substantial enhancements to the video surveillance system at Candlestick Park – the former home to the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers.

Helping safeguard players, employees and fans at the famous stadium is a state-of-the-art video surveillance system installed by integrator IPVision.

To maximize the effectiveness of the 120 surveillance cameras distributed inside and around the perimeter of Candlestick Park, IPVision encoded them with Axis Model 7406 and 7404 encoders, and replaced the existing DVRs with OnSSI’s Ocularis CS VMS solution.

Additionally, The IP-based surveillance solution leverages a dedicated Cisco switching network infrastructure for security applications. Hitachi Data Systems servers/storage arrays were implemented for video archiving.
