Time Warner, Frontier to Offer Home Security Services

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — On the heels of AT&T announcing its plans to enter into the home security market, cable provider Time Warner Cable and telecom Frontier Communications will now offer home security services.

Time Warner is now providing its IntelligentHome security and home management system in New York, North Carolina and Southern California, reports Democrat and Chronicle. The cable provider will offer wireless services that allow customers to view video footage and monitor their homes remotely via smartphone or tablet computers. Meanwhile, Frontier has teamed up with ADT Security Services to provide similar services.

With its offering, Time Warner personnel will install and monitor the system. However, ADT will provide all installation and monitoring for its wireless Pulse system for Frontier customers. The system uses Frontier’s high-speed Internet network.

Both companies plan to roll out the offerings to other markets in coming months.
