GARDEN CITY, N.Y. — Security industry law firm Kirschenbaum & Kirschenbaum has hired Dennis Stern to join its alarm transactional department.
Stern will concentrate his practice on transactional services, including alarm company acquisitions and sales, evaluations, and other business matters.
He formerly held senior level management positions in both public and private companies in the security sector for the past 35 years. He served as executive vice president/general counsel for The National Guardian Corp., a start-up company that grew primarily through acquisitions to become the fourth largest security company in the nation with more than $100 million of RMR when it was sold to Ameritech.
Stern also served as vice president of business development for ADT Security where he created an acquisition group, which completed more than 125 acquisitions in his two years in that position. He later joined Cambridge Security as executive vice president/general counsel. In that role he was involved in the acquisition of SecurityLink from Ameritech by Cambridge Security/GTCR, which was subsequently sold to ADT/Tyco in one of the industry’s largest and most successful M&A transactions. He was similarly involved several years later in the successful sale of HSM Security to Stanley Works.
