Top Security Stories From October 2017
The most popular security news and events you may have missed from the month of October on SSI.
The smart home dominated security news throughout the month of October on SSI. Most of those stories pertained to the release of new DIY security systems.
Ring, the popular maker of video doorbells, released the Ring Protect DIY security and home automation system. It features ZigBee, Z-Wave, Bluetooth, WiFi, cellular and no-contract professional alarm monitoring.
October also saw ADT team up with Samsung SmartThings for a DIY security system and home automation hub.
ADT was also in the news for its legal battle with former Zonoff leader Mike Harris. ADT claims Ring acquired Zonoff’s intellectual property unlawfully, in a “clandestine” meeting in the Zonoff headquarters parking lot in Malvern, Pa.
Honeywell made waves when it announced that after a comprehensive portfolio review, it intends to separately spin off its Homes product portfolio and ADI global distribution business.
