Top Security Stories From February 2018

The most popular security news, articles and events you may have missed from the month of February on SSI online.

Security companies just couldn’t keep their money in their pockets in February. This past month we saw nearly a dozen major mergers and acquisitions — most recently the acquisition of Ring by Amazon.

M&A continues to be a popular category on SSI online as they make up almost half of this month’s top stories.

Motorola kicked off the buying frenzy by acquiring Avigilon on the first of the month for a cool $1 billion in an all-cash transaction.

Convergint, a company known for making acquisitions, made waves when the integrator itself was acquired by Ares Management. The company referred to the transaction as a “financial partnership” because, “A lot of times ‘acquisition’ connotes other things, like a company is going to come in and take over. That is not the situation here. They truly are a financial partner. As KRG was, and as our previous financial partners were,” as explained by Dan Moceri, executive chairman and co-founder of Convergint Technologies.

The rest of February’s top stories range from the evolution of security technologies to security at the Olympics. Interestingly, neither of monthly top story-makers ADT or Vivint appear in this month’s edition. Maybe they should get their checkbooks out in March!
