The security industry has gotten off to somewhat of a shaky start in 2020. Last month, it seemed like a common thorn in the industry’s side would be data breaches. However, a new threat has emerged. Though it is one that is no fault of the industry itself.

In late January, the CDC declared an outbreak of the coronavirus disease. Originating in China, this disease has quickly affected the manufacturing sector. Not only is this causing potential supply chain delays across all electronics industries, it is also throwing a wrench into trade shows and events.

A few weeks ago, ISC West announced it would eliminate the China Pavilion section from this year’s show due to travel restrictions brought on by the disease. Attendees and exhibitors are also thinking twice about attending.

Earlier this week, Motorola announced it was pulling out of the show over concerns of the well-being of its employees and customers. It is still unclear if the coronavirus situation will get better or worse by the time ISC West rolls around.
