It’s a situation most people have at the very least contemplated in their lives. You’re running into the convenient store to grab a quick item and wonder whether or not you could get away with leaving the car running, particularly in the winter when it’s cold out and it takes a while to heat up the car.
One Philadelphia man will likely never make that mistake again when his worst fears were realized.
A car pulled up next to the man’s Honda parked outside a 7-Eleven and quickly dropped off a passenger, who jumped in the Honda and started driving away with the other car as the man chased after it. The victim knew something the criminal did not: His six-year-old stepson was sleeping in the backseat.
Video Surveillance footage from the 7-Eleven captured the entire event on camera, headlining this week’s edition of the Surveillance Videos of the Week.

Fortunately for the victim, police were able to find the car abandoned in about a half hour, reuniting the young child with his family.
Other top videos this week include footage of a young New York college student running away from a man who kidnapped her during a carjacking and a trio crooks caught clear as day on camera stealing in a church. On a stranger note, check out footage of a mysterious man in Alabama approach a hat wearing nothing but a mask of a former president and a sock.
The video surveillance footage you see is being used by police to solve crimes. In many cases, images obtained through security cameras are the best evidence police have in these instances.
