Tracking Company Moves to Protect New York Trucks

NEW YORK

Asset security provider Satellite Security Systems (S3) has been chosen by Metro Fuel Oil Corp. to provide Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking and monitoring for its vehicles and tankers. S3’s FleetGuard™ application will be used to secure 16 of New York-based Metro’s service vehicles and 40 of its fuel and oil tankers.

The application will give Metro the ability to view, command, and control each vehicle in its fleet at once through S3’s GlobalGuard™ security communications system. GPS will provide up-to-the-minute vehicle location and also monitors the status of each vehicle and keep it from being stolen or used for ulterior purposes.

“In our business, it’s imperative to protect employees, customers, the public and the company itself,” says Metro Oil President Paul Pullo. “If the unthinkable ever happens and one of our vehicles is hijacked by terrorists, it is very comforting to know that S3 will respond on our behalf and work with law enforcement to take control of the vehicle and shut it down before any damage can be done.”

Metro serves thousands of commercial, industrial, and residential accounts in New York City as well as several New York State Government agencies and the federal government, including the Department of Defense.
