Trans-Canada World Security Corp. has completed its acquisition of all issued and outstanding shares of Montreal-based Garda Security Group Inc., which has been active in the security services field for more than 25 years. As the largest security services provider in Quebec, Garda’s services include investigations, security guards and equipment sales. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The combined activities of Trans-Canada and Garda are expected to: generate sales figures of approximately $50 million (Canadian) per year; have a client base that includes 37 of the 50 largest companies in Quebec; and create a work force of more than 2,500 security professionals and a network of 10 regional offices throughout Quebec and eastern Ontario. Stephan Cretier, president and CEO of Trans-Canada says, “The transaction will not only increase Trans-Canada’s exposure, sales and revenues, but will also enable it to exceed its growth plan to become a leader in the field, enhance its expertise in such fields as high-technology security and surveillance, and broaden its activities in the field of security services.”
