Tri-Ed Distribution Breaks Off From Tyco

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario, Canada

Security Sales & Integration has learned that Tri-Ed
Distribution will become an independent security
distribution company and will no longer be a part of Tyco.
In addition, former ADI President Steve Roth will serve as
the security distributor’s CEO.

Tri-Ed will retain its name after the transaction is
completed. Terms of the deal have not been released. In a
letter to Tri-Ed’s customers, Roth, a HREF=t_hof.cfm>2004 inductee into the SSI Hall of
Fame
, says the new Tri-Ed is aiming high.

“Because we are now an independent company we have one
single focus – to be the best distributor in the security
and low-voltage industry,” says Roth, who is credited with
building up ADI into the industry’s top distributorship
while there from 1985 to 2000. “This means substantial
investment in the infrastructure that will enhance the
level of service and the completeness of the product
offering found in our branches and catalogs. It also means
that we have no bias in pursuing our mission – finding the
best solutions for your company.”

With branches in the United States and Canada, Tri-Ed distributes low-voltage security equipment including alarm panels, CCTV cameras, access equipment, smoke detectors, speakers and structured cabling. Roth says Tri-Ed will announce an expansion of products and services in the coming months.

Tri-Ed, then a subsidiary of Digital Security Controls (DSC), became part of Tyco Fire and Security in late 2001 as part of Tyco’s acquisition of DSC.
