Facing increasingly longer lines at airport security, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has come up with a 10-point plan to keep passengers moving without compromising the security checkpoints.
The plan, according to the Arlington Patch, includes:
- Maximizing the use of overtime for TSA officers
- Hiring more TSA officers, including another 768 this year
- Additional K-9 teams
- Allowing Federal Security Directors at airports to use more flexibility in training TSA staff for screening
- Developing specific plans to cut down on wait times at some of the nation’s busiest airports
- Reducing carry-on luggage (size and number)
- Asking airlines for help in non-security tasks
- Doing more research and development into technology that will increase passenger flow through security
- Encourage travelers to sign up for TSA Pre✓
- Working with Congress to get additional resources for the TSA

Some airports have experienced wait times more than a few hours.
Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said future proposals for increasing flow of passengers will “not compromise the security of aviation or the American people.”
