Tyco Fire & Security says it is purchasing Boston-based retail data analytics firm Retail Expert Inc. for $14 million.
The company says the acquisition will strengthen and broaden its existing retail loss prevention and management offerings, which are sold by ADT Security Services and Tyco business partners globally.
Founded in 1996, the privately owned Retail Expert will continue to operate out of Boston, while its Chief Executive, Garrett Knight, becomes vice president of research and development for retail business intelligence operations at Tyco Fire & Security.
Retail Expert clients include more than 30 of the top U.S. retail companies. Its flagship software product NaviStor® helps retailers collect data on key performance indicators throughout the entire organization and then use that information to make operational improvements limiting losses and increasing performance.
