Tyco Int’l Ltd. recently announced it would eliminate 75
jobs from its Westminster facility in an attempt to
consolidate operations. Sixty-five employees from Tyco’s
safety products division were laid off Jan. 14 and the
remaining 10 are expected to leave on Jan. 23, thus
reducing the facility’s payroll by 5.5 percent.
The layoffs will affect all sectors of the division,
including administration, manufacturing and distribution.
Prior to the cuts, the facility employed 986 workers.
Tyco said the job cuts would not affect SimplexGrinnell, a
business unit located in the same facility.
The layoffs are a part of the security industry giant’s
plan to save $3 billion during the next three years.
