NORTHBROOK, Ill. – Finding a control panel compliant with the CP-01 standard is about to get much easier, as UL plans to provide a listing of CP-01 panels on its Web site, www.ul.com. The site includes a search feature and, according to the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA), is designed to help those in the electronic security industry find compliant panels.
CP-01 is the standard created by the Security Industry Association (SIA) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) designed to provide features to control panels that can reduce false alarms. The Model Burglar Alarm Ordinance by the NBFAA and the False Alarm Reduction Association (FARA) have recommended the use of CP-01 standard compliant control panels since 1999.
The NBFAA also has a list of 53 compliant panels listed on its Web site at www.alarm.org.
