Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and the Long Island Ducks minor league baseball team are teaming up to promote a community Fire Safety Day. The event will be held at Suffolk County Sports Park in Central Islip, N.Y., on July 15.

“Partnering with the Long Island Ducks is a great way for UL to help promote fire safety not only from a global perspective, but also at the local level,” says Robert Tockarshewsky, UL’s global marketing director for life safety, security and building materials. “Before and during the game, Long Island Ducks fans will have the opportunity to learn important fire safety tips about how to keep their homes and themselves safe from every day fire hazards.”

UL volunteers will distribute fire safety literature to attendees throughout the stadium, and UL’s partner, Radio Disney, will broadcast live before the game promoting a joint “I Am Safety Smart” theme.

Safety literature on a variety of topics ranging from smoke detectors to CO detection, to the need for a home fire escape plan will be available to all fans. The first 1,500 fans entering the ballpark will receive Ducks-branded three-ring binders.
