Ultrak Inc. announces sales of $40.2 million for the second quarter ended June 30, compared to $54 million for the second quarter of 2000. The year-to-date sales were $85 million, vs. sales of $107 million during the same period in 2000.
Company officials say the revenue decline was partly due to the sale of its Intervision unit in July 2000, the phasing-out of its French CCTV distribution business and a stronger U.S. dollar. The worldwide economic slowdown also contributed tot he volume decrease.
Ultrak is seeking to increase sales to professional dealers, exploring new retail outlets to replace the Sam’s Club business and looking for additional cost-saving opportunities. In the fall, Ultrak plans to introduce a range of digital products that are compatible with its existing lines. Enhancements on the company’s access control systems will also be introduced.
Ultrak designs, manufacturers, markets and services electronic products and systems for the security and surveillance, industrial and medical video, and professional audio markets.
