United Technologies Making Bid for Kidde

LONDON

United Technologies (UTC), the parent company of security product manufacturer and integrator Chubb, is making an offer to purchase fire and safety product manufacturer Kidde plc. UTC is bidding $2.1 billion for Kidde, which makes fire alarm panels and systems.

The board of Kidde, based in the United Kingdom, says it is considering the offer according to The Scotsman.

Should the acquisition go through, it will be a reunion of sorts for Kidde and Chubb, which were originally one entity before being demerged in 2000.
