Saturday marked the fourth and final day of the United States and China’s meetings on cybersecurity, an issue that has become a hot topic between the two nations, according to a Reuters report. The meetings covered other issues as well.
Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled to visit Washington, D.C., later in September, according to the White House.
Back in July, the U.S. accused the Chinese of hacking U.S. computers, from businesses to even the U.S. government’s personnel office, a charge that China denies. President Barack Obama said in August that he would relay the U.S.’ concerns over the issue during Xi’s visit to Washington.
Susan Rice, the U.S. national security adviser, had a “frank and open exchange about cyber issues” when meeting this week with Meng Jianzhu, the secretary of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission of the Chinese Communist Party, according to a White House statement.
