United Technologies Corp. (UTC) has named a new leader for its Fire & Security business. Bill Brown, 43, has been promoted as president of UTC Fire & Security, replacing Olivier Robert, 54, who requested and was granted a leave of absence from UTC.

UTC Fire & Security is the parent company for security systems software-maker Lenel, integrator Chubb and fire systems-maker Kidde.

Brown has been with UTC since 1997. He had previously been leading UTC’s air-conditioning unit producer Carrier’s Asia Pacific operations.

Robert has had a 21-year career with UTC and was named president of Chubb after UTC acquired it in 2003. He also orchestrated last year’s acquisitions of Kidde and Lenel.
